Animal bronze from Vienna - Marabout - Signed: M. SIX Dim. 8x14x32cm Base: 5x9x10cm Animal bronze from Viennois.The artist, from a large farming family, attended the modeling department of the National Commercial School in Salzburg from 1891 to 1894, began his career as a sculptor in Salzburg, then came at the Erndt kiln factory in Pöchlarn as a modeler. From 1898 to 1903, he studied, among other places, at the School of Applied Arts in Vienna. with Stefan Schwartz.
As an independent artist, his work focused primarily on religious themes and his work was soon represented beyond Austria. He preferred to make his small sculptures in wood, stone or metal. He also worked on the production of medals.
Six lived in poor conditions and received support from the cooperative until his death in 1938, his widow Maria until her death in 1972. His son Michael died at the age of 22. bronzes are of beautiful qualities.
