HISTORY
Amalric Walter and Henri Bergé.
Amalric Walter was trained at the Sèvres school in earthenware. However, in 1906, he joined the Daum factory in Nancy to specialize in glass paste. He then launched the glassware collections by taking up the research work of Henri Cros and Georges Despret. With Henri Bergé, designer, between 1906 and 1914, he created more than a hundred models. Henri Bergé was a talented naturalist designer who, at the beginning of the century, was fascinated by fauna and flora, particularly aquatic ones. Our pendant is certainly part of this series. Through its subject, the beetle, it is entirely in keeping with the naturalist themes of the Art Nouveau era. Cf. Giuseppe Cappa, “The Glassmaking Genius of Europe”, Mardaga.
