Japanese short sword, wakizashi
Japan, 19th century, Edo period (1603-1868) 
Total length: 56.8cm ;
Blade length: 41.5cm; Nagasa: 30cm
Blade weight : 238 grs


Hira tsukuri blade. 
Copper habaki.
The spindle is in white shagreen, braided with black silk and decorated with a pair of menuki depicting a samurai on horseback.
Fuchi- Kashira en suite featuring peonies in bloom on foliage, with a deer on the kashira.
Tsuba naga maru gata, in shakudo, decorated with a peony in bloom and a bird; gold highlights. 
Wooden scabbard (saya) with black streaks and sequins. 
Bronze Kozuka, decorated with a monk holding secateurs; gold and silver highlights. Steel blade; signed.
