"Orientalist Painting "
We present this painting a "Moroccan village" by Yves Farge. An oil on canvas signed lower right 66 x 54 cm without frame. This painter was born in 1899 and died in 1953. He stayed in Morocco until 1931 which gives this painting before this date, one could think this painting very naive but in fact it is treated in the manner of Fauvism. Before devoting himself to painting in his Moroccan period above all, he was a painter, photographer, journalist and during the Second Great War he was a great resistance fighter and would become a politician, he was minister of supplies. He died suddenly in a road accident in Georgia at the age of 54. He was a journalist at Le Progrès de Lyon and he was assigned as a nursing assistant during the great war of 14/18 certainly rather at the end because at the beginning he would have only been 15 years old.
