Pair Of Louis XV Silver Candlesticks Early 18th Century Circa 1720 - 1725.

A pair of early Louis XV silver armorial candlesticks of convex hexagonal form. The socket is straight with recessed mouthpiece and guilloche base, on a circular pedestal neck with broken lines. The baluster-shaped shaft has plain sides, a shoulder and a faceted knot, and rests on a wide base. The base consists of a convex circular umbilicus on a concave terrace featuring the Nogaret family coat of arms. The whole rests on a hexagonal stepped seat and is topped by a circular drip-trough bobeche bordered by square fillets.                                                                                         Coat of arms under helmet: de la famille Nogaret de La Canourgue; Or, a walnut tree Vert, on a chief Azure three mullets Argent. Alias: charged with a crescent argent between two mullets argent.
