Tribute to Jacques CARTIER - For the commemoration of the 450th Anniversary of the Arrival of Jacques CARTIER in Gaspé in CANADA 1534 - 1984 Medal Made in Copper by the Canadian Artist Raoul HUNTER, for the GASPE Corporation in 1984. The Arrival of Jacques Cartier in Gaspé in 1534, marks the beginning of our history and the birth of the mining industry in Canada. Jacques CARTIER's crew exploited a lead vein near Petit Gaspé. In 1909, Alfred MILLER discovered rocks containing copper ore in the same region. These discoveries are at the origin of Mines Gaspé, one of the Noranda Group companies. In its original box.
