Very beautiful Gilded Bronze Medal by Pierre-Yves Trémois (1921-2020) representing on its obverse a Face and A stylized representation of an Eye Dated 13 XII 63, signed at the top “Trémois” and the first name CATHERINE written on two lines in continuous. On its reverse the mention “MUSEE MONETAIRE DE PARIS JANUARY 25, 1984 APRIL 28, 1984, with the mention “TREMOIS A LA MONNAIE”. This Medal is presented on an elegant green velvet easel.
Biography of Mr. Pierre-Yves Trémois, Born in 1921 in Paris and Died in 2020 in Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche, is a French designer, painter, engraver and sculptor. Member of the Academy of Fine Arts. Coming from a family of publishers (Les éditions Pierre Trémois), he is the son of the man of letters Eugène Florimond "Edge" Trémois (1885-1963) and Yvonne Robiquet. In 1978, he married Catherine Lelièvre de Latouche. He will join the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and will be a student of Fernand Sabattè. In 1943, he was awarded the Grand Prix de Rome for painting. Then he devoted himself to chisel engraving and etching. He was also a resident of the Casa de Velázquez between 1951 and 1952 in Madrid.
