Engraved brass pocket sundial made by Nicolas Bion (1655-1733), at the end of the reign of Louis XIV.
Butterfield type, Octagonal tray richly engraved freehand. Compass to the north marked by a fleur-de-lis. On the back the main cities of Europe (with writing of the time: Lisle, Basle, Roüen, Lion) Paris, Marseille, Rennes, Brest, London, Warsaw, Bayonne, Grenoble, Metz, etc., accompanied by the height adjustment of the gnomon to the bird.
Good condition. Original needle and glass.
