Bronze print , with brown-green patina , representing a donkey , by Alfred Barye (Barye Fils) .
Old edition sculpture , signed "BARYE" , hollow , on the naturalist terrace .
Period second part of the 19th century .
Very good state of conservation and patina .

Alfred Barye (1839-1895)

Alfred Barye , renowned French sculptor , known as "the Son", or "Alf Barye", born in Paris on January 21, 1839 .

Alfred Barye was a pupil of his father , the sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye (1795-1875) .
He trained and worked in his father's workshop and foundry .
His work includes animal bronzes as well as orientalist and comic subjects .
He exhibited at the Salon from 1864 to 1882 .

The works of Alfred Barye show a very high degree of detail , execution and finish , equal to the works of his father .
Alfred Barye realizes the "Arab Rider on Horseback" with the collaboration of Emile Coriolan Guillemin (1841-1907) , edited by Ferdinand Barbedienne Fondeur .
He died on May 13 , 1895 , in Paris .
