"Silvio Poma Landscape Of Montaigne Seen From Monte Rosa Early 20th"
Mountain landscape Silvio Poma View from Monte Rosa Early 1900. Large oil painting of a mountain landscape with partially snow-capped peaks, mountain pasture and grazing cows. Signed lower left S. Poma, the work dates back to the early 1900s and is presented on the first canvas and has never undergone restoration; which is a merit as it brings the painting back to its original integrity has the small defect of having the canvas a little loose as seen in the creases at the top visible even in the published images and some "scratches" in the paint for finish in the central part of the painting (to the left of the cows). Moreover, with cleaning, the original colors of the pigments would come out and the painting would take on a different luminosity and depth (to give it such a banal idea, the snow on the tops of the mountains would turn white again and therefore the whole chromatic scale of the paint) . The frame is its original in carved and gilded wood, from which we only removed the velvet that covered the passe par tout which was irreparably worn and which has been replaced by an ivory lacquer. art.
