Rapier With Scabbard, 19th Century

This is a nice rapier dating from the 19th century, although its style is loosely inspired by the 17th century. It is complete, with its original scabbard, which is rare. It is a well-made weapon, probably based on a military blade from Solingen. Very decorative.
BLADE: After a very short ricasso of 5mm, it takes on a diamond-shaped section, the two sharp edges gradually coming together to form the point.
Length of the blade 80.3 cm, width at the ricasso 1.9 cm, thickness at the ricasso 7.8 mm The blade is in good general condition with here and there some marks of superficial oxidation.
GUARD: This is a so-called “ring” guard, a large ring protecting the outer part of the hand. A smaller oval ring, forged in one piece with the previous one, protects the internal part of the hand. The quillons are straight, the upper quillon splitting at its end.

POMMEL: it is globular and surmounted by a small button on which the tang is riveted
GRIP: It is made of wood, surrounded by a twisted filigree alternating with a larger filigree diameter. It is in perfect condition. The ferrules at each end are made of ringed iron rings
SCABBARD: This is the original scabbard, it is made of iron covered with sewn leather. Iron scabbard entry and bouterolle.
The only defect is at the level of the entrance cover = the attachment button which allows the sword to be worn on the baldric is missing.

Beautiful object, typical of its time, which allows tasteful decoration at a modest price.
