"Still Life From The Early 17th Century, Surroundings Of Fede Galizia (milan, 1578 - 1630)."
Oil on canvas (33cm x 51cm) and its frame (50cm x 68cm) in carved and gilded wood with friezes of leaves and flowers, and stylized rolled ribbon from the period (Piedmont). This painting represents a still life composed of a basket and a basket. We find in the composition a large number of fruits: Peaches, apples, figs, grapes, walnuts and hazelnuts. This painting is the work of an Italian artist in the entourage of Fede Galizia. She learned painting in the workshop of her father Nunzio Galizia, originally from Trento, miniaturist painter in Milan. At the age of 12, she mastered engraving. At the age of 20, she had a reputation as a portrait painter who transcended borders. But she is also known for her still lifes. She executed several commissions for churches in Milan including the altarpiece for the Santa Maria Maddelena church. In 1630, she died in Milan from the plague which was ravaging Italy.
