Drawing Emile Fabry Dated 1895
Large drawing by Emile Fabry (Verviers 1865 - Woluwe-St-Pierre 1966). Symbolist painter practicing monumental art (Théatre de la Monnaie, Town Halls of Laeken and St Gilles/Brussels, Museum of Central Africa in Tervuren). He studied in the workshop of Jean-François Portaels (1818-1895), he was also influenced by Michelangelo, Ingres and Pierre Puvis de Chavannes. In 1893, he exhibited in Paris at the Salon d'Art Idealiste and collaborated with the architects Victor Horta and Paul Hankar. He often used the pointillist technique, became a professor at the Brussels Academy and a founding member of the "Pour l'Art" circle in 1897. He exhibited at the Salons of "La Rose Croix" in Paris and of "L'art Idealist" in Brussels. Member of the Royal Academy of Belgium. Works at the Museums of Antwerp, Brussels and Ixelles. Beautiful original frame, in carved and gilded wood, height 83 cms, width 68 cms.
