19th Century Japanese Hibachi Brazier In Lacquer
Superb and rare Japanese Hibachi in lacquer from the 19th century. This object, which is none other than a brazier, was used as a domestic heating or cooking appliance. Sand could be poured into the copper cauldron or glowing pieces of coal to provide heat. This object is made from hardwood, probably elm, and covered throughout with a coral red lacquer decorated with scenes of animated characters. Today we can use this object as a plant pot or as a decorative element and restore its main heating objective. Rare and original, in excellent state of conservation.
