Clovis Terraire (1858-1931) Pasture In Saint Jean De Sixt Hautes Alpes Savoie Snowy Landscape Aravis Ridge Oil On Canvas Painting

Artist: Clovis Terraire (1858-1931)
Very beautiful representation of cows grazing in Saint Jean de Sixt in Haute-Savoie near La Clusaz, a subject in which the artist had made a specialty. Beautiful colors with rich nuances in tones of green, brown, intense blue, red... We can see the alpine farms, in the background, the snow-covered Aravis range, slightly misty. A grandiose landscape, a very beautiful, very realistic rendering. Signed lower left "C. Terraire" and titled on the back on the stretcher "Pasture in Saint Jean de Sixt Hte Savoie". Clovis Frédéric Léopold Terraire exhibited at the Salon de Lyon as well as at the Salon des artistes français, receiving an honorable mention in 1905, a third class medal in 1908 and winning the Rosa-Bonheur Prize in 1927 (source Wikipedia). On its original canvas and stretcher which come from the supplier of artists' materials, the famous Maison Lefranc. Contemporary wooden frame with golden patina. Dimensions: 33 cm x 46 cm (8 P format) and 47.5 cm x 60 cm with the frame. The artist is listed in Bénézit, Dictionary of painters, sculptors, designers and engravers and in the Dictionary of little masters of painting (1820-1920) by Pierre Cabanne and Gérald Schurr. Very good state. Many other objects to discover in my stand at the Trade Shows in which I participate. Follow my gallery to be informed of new developments and to know the dates of the next Shows...
