Pretty reliquary of Saint Bonnet, Bishop of Clermont, containing pretty paperwork including patterns of ears of wheat and a background of red fabric. Window in good condition, period blackened frame with some slight wear and tear from the time of the black color on the carved flowers of the frame. Period patina. Back covered with patterned paper and wax seals. Brief history: Bonnet (or Bonitus in Latin) is a man of the church from the early Middle Ages, who lived from approximately 633 to 710. He became Bishop of Clermont from 691 to 701. Recognized as a Saint by the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church, he is the patron saint of potters who is celebrated on January 15. Dimensions: L 16 x W 15 and 3.5 cm thick
