Jacques Thévenet (1891-1989) The port of Marseille Gouache on paper 23x27cm 40x46cm framed Painter, engraver and illustrator born in Montquin in Morvan. Leaving for a legal career, he finally decided to follow his vocation for the Fine Arts and worked at the Académie Julian from 1910 to 1912. He created illustrations for works by Maurois, Roger Martin du Gard and Giono. Around 1920 he came under the influence of Dunoyer de Segonzac. He paints figures and still lifes, but he is above all a landscaper. He participates in numerous group exhibitions in France and abroad and has several personal exhibitions. He exhibited at the Salons des Indépendants and the Tuileries in Amsterdam and Tokyo. Some of his works are included in the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. The Municipal Museum in The Hague has his Vase with Daisies and the former Luxembourg Museum in Paris La Vallée.
