"Italy 17th Cty, Rare Walnut Carved Middle Table, aanthropomorphic Feet / Satyrs"
Haute Epoque

Exceptional walnut richly carved square middle table, with 4 feet carved in styrs statues shape
Italy 17th cty

The 4 sides are similar, one of them opening with a front drawer

The corners' corbels in modillions' shape are still repeated in the center of the panels of the belt, and therefore of the drawer, separating 2 rectangular panels.
Several mouldings carved with gadroons and others: edge of the plate, spacer connecting the 4 legs on its upper and lateral faces, low crossbar of the belt, frames of the 2 rectangular panels on each side of the belt,... (please check detailed photos)

This table is especially exceptional for its large and powerfull anthropomorphic feet carved, in shape of 4 satyrs supporting on a club. Bearded and curly-haired, these mythological figures with human busts stand on goat's legs and hooves.

Good general condition: restorations of the 4 legs with large iron brackets in the shape of "L" on the back of the statues to reinforce stability (slits in the bodies of the statues show old fractures formerly restored in 19th century)
Very very nice glossy patina of dark walnut, with darker wood grains, especially on the belt panels.
