French sculptor: Paul Dubois 1880, edition cast signed F.BARBEDIENNE. The allegorical statue representing “Military Courage” is one of four statues located at each corner of the cenotaph of General de La Moricière in Nantes Cathedral.
A good example of Dubois’ “neo-Florentine” style.
Paul Dubois (1829-1905) was a French sculptor and painter from Nogent-sur-Seine, France. In 1865 and 1876, he obtained a medal of honor at the Salon of Fine Arts.
