Object description :

"Museum - Brooch, Carved Shell Cameo, Sterling Silver - Portrait Of Michelangelo - Master "
End of the 18th century - Early 19th century Italy Sublime cameo representing the Profile of Michelangelo, exceptional finesse of work, mounted on a solid silver frame finely chiseled with floral motifs. Born in the Republic of Florence, his work is inspired by models of classical Antiquity and has a lasting influence on Western art. Michelangelo's creative abilities and mastery in different artistic fields define him as an archetypal Renaissance man, alongside his rival and contemporary, Leonardo da Vinci. Given the considerable volume of surviving correspondence, sketches and works, Michelangelo is one of the best documented artists of the 16th century. Proof of the admiration shown to him by intellectuals and other artists of his time, several biographies were published during his lifetime. Cameo in perfect condition.
