"Art Deco Service, Wolfers-wiskemann, Silver Metal "
Very elegant tea and coffee service from the Art Deco period in perfect condition. It bears the master goldsmith's mark of the Bruno Wiskemann brand and the workshop numbers of the Wolfers firm in Brussels. In the early 1930s, the economic crisis crossed the Atlantic Ocean and hit the continent hard. Among many others, luxury retail is heavily impacted. The Wolfers family, which has always invested in the prestige and exclusivity of its brand, is forced to offer a range of objects which combines the beautiful designs of their objects with a less expensive material than solid silver. The decision was made to start production of silverplated metal. Most of the time the objects are identical to the solid silver creations. To preserve the exclusivity of the Wolfers brand, this range is marketed under the name Bruno Wiskemann. This cousin of the Wiskemanns lends his name to the new Form but does not hold a significant share of the shares of the limited company. For more than half a century, the Bruno Wiskemann range marketed superb silver-plated objects, created by the Wolfers family.
