Book "The Metamorphoses of Ovid" with illustrations by Pablo Picasso. Facsimile in box, printed on fine white laid paper from Bellerive stationers. Numbered copy n°3495 A, from Skira editions. Very good condition.

In 1931, with the help of Jacqueline Apollinaire and on the advice of Pierre Matisse, the young Albert Skira (the publisher) then aged twenty-five, convinced Pablo Picasso to illustrate Ovid’s Metamorphoses with 30 etchings.
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the publishing house, Skira publishes an anastatic edition of this book. This magnificent work so close to the original will satisfy all Picasso lovers and all collectors of rare books.
