"Louis XIV Box In Ebony, Flanders 17th Century"
Rectangular box in ebony veneer decorated with "wave moldings" on the top, the edges of the lid and the base of the box. It opens with a side drawer, the interior in solid satin wood. The inside of the lid reveals a geometric marquetry centered on the Huguenot cross. The box is divided into reserves for inkwells and quills, the separations in solid violet wood, the bottom of the box is decorated with a compass rose. Rich interior marquetry in exotic wood: Ebony, amaranth, violet wood, satin, yellow wood... creating a beautiful contrast with the ebony exterior.
