The triangular blade is two-edged and triple-throated.
Southern Italy, 18th century
The base of the blade is pierced with a large frame with lion profile, carved on both sides.
The 3 curved central grooves are framed by finely chiseled foliage scrolls, starting on one side from the mouth of a sea monster and on the other from a bird.
The ovoid handle is made up of circular horn segments of different colors, alternating lighter and darker rings, with pewter (?) separators, and white metal supports.
34.5 cm length . 3 cm width of the blade (22cm length of the blade alone)
Very nice collectible bladed weapon and/or object for a cabinet of curiosities.
Please check in the last photo several very similar daggers, with similar shapes and handles.
