This famous Cave is located in Anacapri on the North East shore of the island of CAPRI, during antiquity this Cave was a Nymphaeum (a sanctuary dedicated to the aquatic Nymphs of Roman mythology, long since considered a place of magic, witchcraft and various superstitions It was rediscovered in the 19th century by the painters August KOPISCH (1799-1853) and Swiss painter Ernst FRIES (1801-1833).
