Object description :

"The Memoirs Of Philippe De Commines Chevalier Seigneur d'Argenton, 1 Volume In 8, In Paris 1616"
As strange as an old grimoire, this strong volume bound in parchment with leather laces is a wonder for its appearance and its primitive experience, printed during the youth of Louis XIII, in Paris, at the home of the Widow du Carroy, residing in Rue de Rheims near the College, 1616; the "Memoirs of Philippre de Commines Chevalier Seigneur d'Argenton. On the main facts & gestures of Louis XI, & Charles VIII. His Son, Kings of France. Two Epistles by Iean Sleidan, with the life of the Author. ample index of the most remarkable things. All revised and corrected in the edition of Denis Sauvage. A precious copy in pigskin title written handwritten in ink, portrait of Philippe de Commines on wood (1447-1511). These memoirs of which I cannot praise enough are remarkable and very precise and well written by Denis Sauvge who was the framework of these very instructive memoirs and whose number of editions which followed through the centuries present a quality text on this period so little reported. A piece of curiosity in its "juice" strongly charged with History....
