Temple ridge ornament (Faïteau) known, according to interpretations, as “Garuda” (In Sanskrit: Eagle), mount of the god Vishnu or “Hong/Hamsa” representing the mythical bird or swan, animal vehicle (vâhana) of the god Brahma . Original patina, faded, dotted with lichens and concretions. Thailand or Laos, late 18th century. Delivered with its white or black steel base, adjustable inclination of the shofa. Provenance: Estate of the collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau. Sold with certificate of provenance.
