Pair Of Seascapes, Oils On Canvas, By François Valentin Gazard (1747-1817), Signed And Dated
Artist: Farnçois Valentin Gazard (1747-1817)
Exceptional pair of oils on canvas by François Valentin GAZARD (Toulouse 1747- Versailles 1817). One represents a scene of shipwreck in a storm, the other a coastal fishing scene in the moonlight, signed and dated lower left "Gazard 1814". These two paintings are comparable to the works of the famous marine painter Claude Joseph VERNET (Avignon 1714-Paris 1789), which today sell for several hundred thousand euros. Here is a rare opportunity to acquire a pair of oils on canvas in their period frame with wooden palmettes and gilded stucco, produced by a master of the 18th-19th centuries whose works can be found in the museums of Paris (Louvre ), Toulouse and Granville in particular.
