Small Table Stamped Riesener

A small flying table in mahogany veneer opening with three drawers on the front. It rests on four sheathed feet joined by a crotch shelf. The feet decorated with gilded bronze shoes end in casters and are decorated with octagonal rings also in gilded bronze at the junction with the body. It is topped with white marble topped with an openwork gallery in gilded bronze. The top drawer is separated from the two drawers without a crosspiece in the lower part by a gilt bronze ingot mold adorning the entire perimeter of the piece of furniture. A double bronze frame appears on all four sides.
Stamped Riesener and Jurande JME hallmark. Jean-Henri RIESENER (1734-1806), “the uncontested Master of Louis XVI furniture” (dixit Pierre KJELLBERG in his book “French Furniture of the 18th Century”) was made Master on January 23, 1768.
