Round Box With Putti Decor, Louis XVI Period
Large round box from the Louis XVI period. It has a decoration on all sides in Martin varnish. The cover shows seven putti playing with doves, a nest in their arms, a quiver on the ground. The back is decorated with two cupids with the same subject of the dove and the quiver. The sides have the same decor. The interior is speckled tortoiseshell. The setting is in silver chased with quatrefoils. Very beautiful original colors, without any restoration. French work around 1780
