"Carved Wooden Pillar 15th/16th Century"
Oak house pillar representing a seated soldier holding his sword. The face with its cheeks in strong relief with a small mouth and a bob haircut with bulging eyes remind us of the representative features of the characters of the Middle Ages. The sword is long and straight (soldier or knight?). It was originally on a half-timbered house. The shoulders are high and suggest armor, to be compared to the character present on the Maison du Pilori in Joigny (on the left on the facade). France, probably of origin from the town of Joigny, at the time located in Champagne (in Burgundy since the French revolution), 15th century (before the fire of 1530) or first half of the 16th century (after the fire) . Weight 16kg.
