"Art Nouveau Bust - Charles Töpffer"
Pretty bronze bust of an elegant woman wearing a knot at the top of her head held by a precious deer head. The right shoulder is draped, the left one is bare and worn below Ch.Töpffer, 1888. Caramel patina without wear. The bust and the pedestal forming one and fixed on a morello cherry marble with some damage. Charles Töpffer: born in 1832 in Geneva and did his first studies in Lyon. He very quickly devoted himself to sculpture and settled in Paris where he set up his workshop in a superb old building, three courtyards from Rogan. Esthete and great lover of art objects, he especially created bronze busts and numerous medallions. He died in 1905. Height without marble: 22.2 cm width 5 cm depth 4.5 cm
