The painter's talent is brilliantly expressed in the gentle expression of this magnificent woman and in the virtuoso treatment of the dress. The palette stands out from the bright colors of French portraits from the reigns of Louis XV and Louis XVI with a harmony of greens and browns which announce the emerging romantic style. It comes from a castle near Lyon.
