Extraordinary antique French Sterling Silver Teapot raised on openwork scroll feet with foliate and floral mounts. Spectacular decoration with in particular a striking masculine Mascaron located at the base of the spout, and an imposing scroll handle surmounted by a figural Griffin. A fabulous atypical openwork finial crowns the lid. Monogrammed each side on the central band of the body.
Masterly crafted from the highest quality silver, it is punched with the Minerve 1st standard (.950) hallmark, and stamped with the makers cachet for Master Silversmiths Paul TALLOIS and Louis MAYENCE, active c.1880,  overstamped with the word Déposé (registered). Condition is excellent with just the lighest signs of use to note, and has been revised and cleaned by our Parisian silversmith. This remarkable teapot is extraordinary for its quality, originality and density (nearly 1.3 kg), making it an exceptional museum quality piece to discover through the attached photos ....
