"Large Sculpted Bronze Clock Of Hebe And Jupiter By James Pradier (1790-1852)"
Hello, I am offering you this very beautiful and large bronze clock carved with Hebe and Jupiter by James Pradier (1790-1852). Hebe and Jupiter by James Pradier (1790-1852) Large neoclassical bronze sculpture on base. Signed Pradier and Susse brothers foundry mark lower left on the amphora. The movement is signed on the dial and on the movement. The sculpture in question is called “Hebe presenting to Jupiter the cup of immortality” or “Hebe and Jupiter”. This is a classic depiction from Greek mythology. It shows Hebe, the goddess of youth, offering a cup containing ambrosia (food of the gods) to Jupiter, the king of the gods. The sculpture illustrates the moment when Hebe filled Jupiter's cup to allow him to retain his immortality. It symbolizes the transmission of divine power and eternal youth. This work by James Pradier highlights the graceful forms and realism of the figures, characteristic of his neoclassical style. The sculpture “Hebe presenting Jupiter with the cup of immortality” is exhibited in various museums around the world, such as the Louvre Museum in Paris. It is considered one of Pradier's most notable achievements in the field of neoclassical sculpture. Dimensions: Height 62 cm, Width 40 cm and depth 24 cm It is in good general condition, needs cleaning, just missing the tab that holds the pendulum.
