Oil on canvas framed by a Montparnasse carved wooden frame, called bouch.
Signature lower right: René Marie Castaing -21
Painting in good condition, painted on burlap without preparation (undercoat) which gives this matte character to the painting.
Beautiful Montparnasse frame in bleached and weathered wood, in good condition.
The Four Arts.
Splendid painting which gives off a typical atmosphere of this Art Deco era. The pyramid composition is very well constructed.
The colors and characters are magnificent. +++

René Marie Joseph Castaing (1896-1943) 20th century. French. Béarnais.
Painter of religious subjects, portraits, landscapes, wall compositions.
Student of Henry Joseph Castaing (his father), and also of Paul Albert Laurens and William Laparra at the Académie Julian in Paris.
In 1920 he was admitted to the School of Fine Arts, obtained several awards, then the first prize in Rome in 1924.
