Artist: Edoardo Francesco Bossoli
oil on canvas, 53 x 69 cm
Signed lower left: "E. Bossoli"
Francesco Edoardo Bossoli was born in 1830 and was initiated into art by his uncle Carlo, a famous landscape and history painter. Of a shy and reserved nature, he studied various disciplines as a self-taught artist and was passionate about philosophy, music, the history of religions and mountaineering. His production is mostly dedicated to views of city squares or panoramas of the Italian mountains. In his city views, the artist follows in the tradition of Venetian vedutismo, a faithful capture and investigation of urban views, as objectively as possible.
