India: Very Heavy Timpani In Sterling Silver Decorated With Goddess And Flowers. 19th - 20th flag

Object description :

"India: Very Heavy Timpani In Sterling Silver Decorated With Goddess And Flowers. 19th - 20th"
Superb and heavy silver timpani with Indian decoration.

The timpani is frustoconical in shape, it is delimited at the rim and at the base by bands of plain silver; then by two friezes of flowers in strong relief.
The body is made of silver with very high quality amati, very fine and very soft to the touch.

Against this matte background stands out a polylobed cartouche with, in strong relief, a dancing Hindu goddess, with four arms, the upper two of which hold conch shells (?).

I did not find a hallmark but the timpani was acid tested.

Superb timpani, large in size, excessively heavy, and presenting superb decoration in high relief with clean and incisive silver work.

12cm high
8 cm in diameter

274.28 grams

Good condition. A slight deformation on the frieze of flowers, on the right under the goddess, scratches inside the timpani.
