Installed on rue de Charonne, Jean-Jacques Pafrat left behind some Louis XVI furniture stamped in mahogany, with rigorous lines and a very sober and refined decor composed of a few bronze moldings and grooves. We sometimes observe on some of his works profiled columns which become thinner towards the bottom decorated with grooves. The Revolution shortened Pafrat's brief career, who then took part in the storming of the Bastille and enlisted in the armies of the Republic. He campaigned with the northern armies as captain of gunners. Wounded at the Battle of Linselles, he died shortly after in a hospital in Lille.
