This traditional drum is typical of the shamanic drums that could be seen among the Native American populations of North America. Often associated with these populations, Pow Wows were for a long time one of the places where we could see the traditional use of this musical instrument. Pow-Wows, traditionally, are celebratory and gathering events for the community, in order to get closer and exchange with family or friends annually. These large gatherings followed long periods of absence or military exploits. We will highlight on this drum numerous traces of period pigments, giving this object great aesthetic and spiritual power. REGION: North America MATERIAL: Skin, strip of leather, color pigment and wood PERIOD: First half of the 20th century DIAMETER: 25 cm (Base)
