"Franz Bibus (?) Cigarette Case In Enameled And Vermeil Sterling Silver. Czechoslovakia Art Deco"
Very beautiful case from the Czechoslovak Art Deco period in solid enameled silver. The case is rectangular with cut sides.
It is plain silver apart from the charming enameled decoration on the lid.
This decoration represents a young girl and a young boy playing together.
This “silhouette” decoration is very rare on silver cases, and even more so with this charming theme that we rarely see.
The interior is vermeil.
The box is hallmarked:
. 900 for silver title
. A rabbit's head with the number 2 in an irregular polygon: hallmark for small Czech works with the title of 900/° used between 1921 and 1929
. Goldsmith's mark: FB, probably for Franz Bibus
Very interesting case with this children's decor, rare and adorable.
