Object description :

"Pair Of Scagliola Lamps, 19th Century."
These very elegant lamps date from the mid-19th century. Equipped with a long neck and a broad base, they rest on an Etruscan-style bronze base, on either side of which a small bronze ring is attached. The top is still fitted with a brass burner part. The marbled appearance is given by the scagliola which uses a palette of pastel green shades, very nuanced and varied. Scagliola, also called marble stucco, is a marble imitation technique used in architecture and also in decorative art to decorate marble tops. If we encounter it from time to time on columns or furniture tops I must say that for my part this is the first time that I have seen it on an object. The lamps were electrified by their previous owner and are equipped with a system adjustable in height depending on the lampshade you wish to use. Napoleon III period. Dimensions, height of the lamp alone to the top of the mechanism 44.5 cm, height of the lamp with the stem adjusted to the lowest 69.5 cm, and with the stem adjusted to the highest 82.5 cm.
