PICART, Bernard and Philipp von STOSCH. Ancient engraved stones on which the engravers placed their names, Amsterdam 1724, FIRST BILINGUAL LATIN/FRENCH EDITION, in-folio (28.5x43.5 cm), (6) XXI (1) 97 pp. (1), period calfskin binding (rather worn), spine inscribed and decorated in gold, upper spine and a fragment of the back plate missing.
First bilingual edition, illustrated with 70 numbered plates by Bernard Picart. The title pages are in red and black.
Note that all the plates are present, including the plates of Hercules and Iole, (often eliminated as they were considered obscene).
Slight foxing and but the text and plates are in good condition, the signs of wear mainly concern the binding.
