"Painting Marcel Catelein Marine. Oil On Canvas, Signed Lower Left 1920"
Marcel Catelein was a self-taught artist active from 1914 to 1974, whose studio was initially located at 38, rue de Romainville in Montreuil-sous-Bois. He is particularly recognized for having created a fresco for the town hall of this municipality in the 1930s. His artistic production focused mainly on seascapes, in particular scenes of boats at the dock. Although he participated in an exhibition in 1935 at the 46th Salon des Indépendants in Paris, he remained relatively unknown to the general public. His works were mainly oil paintings on canvas, and few of them were titled or dated. His pictorial creations can be classified into seven distinct categories. 75cm x136cm with frame 57cm x118cm without frame
