EARLY ARTS-AFRIQUAN ARTS-POPULAR ART MOSSI CULTURE BURKINA FASO WEST AFRICA LATE 19TH - EARLY 20TH CENTURY BIGA MOSSI DOLL-FERTILITY CHARM Biga Mossi fertility doll/charm from Burkina Faso, late 19th/early 20th century, intended to be used by young African women (Mossi people of Burkina Faso, Togo, Ghana and/or Benin), during initiation rites of passage. It reflects both sexes (feminine and masculine attributes). Pearl bracelets/pierced ears. Very beautiful honey to tan patina. Impressive headdress-Scarifications. Mossi or Moose people in the plural, or even Morgane in the singular. Very good condition (see descriptive photos).
