"Fireback With The Alliance Arms Of Enguerrand De Chennevières And Anne Thiboult (94x80)"
Fireback dating from the second half of the 17th century, with a trapezoidal top, with the arms of alliance, crowned and surrounded by palm leaves, of Enguerrand de Chennevières, sieur du Hamel, born in 1618 and buried in 1675 in Bellou en Houlme in the 'Orne and Anne Thiboult de Trévigny, married July 15, 1649, originally from Martigny sur l'Ante in Calvados, buried in 1691 or 1717, depending on the sources, in the church of Bellou. Their son, Charles de Chennevieres, sieur du Hamel (1654-1687), was married to Marguerite d'Enfernet in 1684. Two children were born from this union, Marie Charlotte born and died in 1685 and Charles Antoine de Chenevières de la Guyardière, born in 1686 and married in Bellou, on June 25, 1717, with Marie Jeanne Perier, also born in 1686. This plate was probably cast at the forges of Rânes, a few leagues from Bellou sur Houlme and the fiefdoms of the de Chennevières like those of the Thiboult. Coat of arms left in 1 of Chennevières: Primitive coat of arms: silver with a merlette sable and accompanied by eight stars of the same (or gules / Chaix d'Est-Ange) placed in orle. Variant: Gules with a silver escutcheon charged with a merlette sable and accompanied by eight silver stars placed in orle. In 2 of Thiboult: Argent with two cinquefoils in chief and a fleur-de-lys in base, all Gules. On our plate the merlette has been bypassed as a sign of courtesy. Plaque found in La Hague in Manche. His weight is 137 kg.
