Object description :

"Important Bronze "young Peasant Woman", Signed H. Moreau - 2nd Part Nineteenth"
Large bronze sculpture with brown patina, signed Hippolyte Moreau (1832 - 1926). He is the second son of Jean-Baptiste Moreau and brother of Mathurin and Auguste, all recognized sculptors of the 19th century. Hippolyte follows the traditional and academic canons of the representation of the body and exalts feminine beauty by paying particular attention to detail. He enjoyed significant success and won two medals at the universal exhibitions of 1877 and 1900. “Jeune Paysanne” is an ode to youth and the land, imagined by the artist at the end of the 19th century. We see a young woman with a childish face looking into the distance. Her slender throat is highlighted by her light dress benefiting from a fluid drape which emphasizes her shapes. She holds a bale fork in her hand, while her bare feet are rooted in the vegetation. The H. Moreau signature is affixed to the terrace. The artist creates here a finely sculpted work that will delight lovers of refined art objects. ****** Period: Late 19th century Very good condition.
