Mahogany Music Cabinet, Napoleon III Period – Second Half Of The 19th Century

A magnificent music cabinet made of mahogany and mahogany veneer dating from the Napoleon III period. This square-section piece features turned legs that support a series of harmoniously proportioned shelves framed by brass moldings.
On the top, two bronze pinecones stand at the back as delicate decorative accents, emphasizing the ornamental vocabulary characteristic of the Imperial style. On the front of the cabinet, a discreet drawer is incorporated, its round gilded metal knob adding a touch of functional refinement.
The central section is organized as a compartmentalized music cabinet, with vertical dividers designed to hold sheet music, songbooks, or magazines, while the base rests on graceful spindle legs that anchor the piece while giving it a light and balanced silhouette.
The deep mahogany, brought to life by its carefully grained veneer, complements the metallic accents to create a piece that is both practical and decorative—typical of the refined Second Empire aesthetic, where functionality blends with understated, masterful elegance.
