Bronze with lost wax, very beautiful caramel patina, in very good condition,

Signed: not signed, Mozart bronze by or after Dubois, but written on a brass plate on the base, and is referenced and in photo in the official dictionary of bronze sculptors of the XIX th pages: 296, 297 and 298, (see his bio below)

Biography:
Born in Nogent sur Seine in July 1827 and died in Paris in May 1905. Son of a notary, he first studied law then, attracted by sculpture, entered the School of Fine Arts in Florence in 1858. He is the great nephew of the great sculptor Jean-Baptiste PIGALLE. He debuted at the Salon of 1857 under the name of Dubois-Pigalle where he was a great success. Other exhibitions will follow and monumental works too, such as the bronze of Joan of Arc 4 meters high etc...
After having worked with Henner, will also paint, and from 1880, he will exhibit simultaneously sculptures and paintings. Barbedienne was its founder for many years. It is present in the museums of: Angoulème, Bayonne, Chalons sur Marne, Chartres, Epinal, Grenoble, Langres, Niort, Paris Orsay, Paris Petit Palais, Périgueux, Troyes, Versailles château.
