19th Regency Style Gilt Bronze Candlestick.
Artist: Auguste-maximilien Delafontaine
Candlestick with rich chiseled decoration (garlands, cartouches, foliage...) in the Regency style. It bears the mark of the founder Auguste-Maximilien Delafontaine (1813-1892): AD surmounted by a star. I was made between 1840 and 1885 when Auguste-Maximilien ran the family business. The Delafontaine house was founded in the 18th century by Jean-Baptiste Delafontaine (1750-1820). It was directed from 1818 to 1840 by Pierre-Maximilien Delafontaine, then by Auguste-Maximilien until 1885.
